*Classes on 25/04/2023 and 02/05/2023 will be covered by Lolly as Claire is away* Pregnancy yoga helps prepare you both physically and emotionally for labour and birth. A specific yoga practice which focuses on breath and movement in preparation for labour, strengthens core birthing muscles and helps alleviate backache and other pregnancy aches and pains. Our classes start with time to talk, a space in which you can share and hear that you are not the only one feeling the highs and lows of pregnancy. Please let us know if you have any specific problems or injuries, and we encourage questions too. Claire and Lolly may give a mini talk on some aspect of pregnancy, like care of the pelvic floor, breathing in labour, how to prepare for the time after birth etc... Sometimes a member of the group who has recently given birth will come back to tell her story and encourage a positive, realistic view on giving birth and early motherhood. We then teach a full hour of pregnancy yoga, multi-layered to include hypnotic aspects - positive, deliberately repetitive suggestions, movements, affirmations and visualisations, to thus embed the power and wisdom of your body at a deep level. The yoga we practise strengthens the body from the inside out, to help you prepare for birth and feel more comfortable as your baby grows. We focus on the breath which is incorporated into every posture, and movement to create the habit of letting go; the perfect preparation for labour, for birth, for motherhood and life in general! We end with total relaxation, for you and your baby to rest together. We hold classes online because we know how difficult it can be to get out of the house sometimes when time for yourself can be hard to find. By eliminating travel time and hassle, we make it easier to join our community, all you need is a yoga mat & space on the floor, a belt or scarf, a couple of foam blocks or cushions and a bolster is very useful too. If you are ever late or want to just join us for the yoga part, that's fine too. Regular attendance to these classes will ensure maximum benefit on all levels. Pregnancy classes are suitable from your second trimester, no previous yoga experience is necessary. All yoga classes are recorded, with the camera only focused on the teacher. We cut out the chat at the beginning and make the yoga class available for a week on our website for those paying on a monthly subscription. Please email us to enquire about concessions.
